How I work

1

Confidentiality

Confidentiality lies at the heart of our counselling relationship; what is shared during our sessions is treated with respect and discretion. I ensure that all information you share is kept secure and private, only disclosed under specific circumstances

(See Safeguarding).

Our discussions are not shared with others without your explicit consent. Records are securely stored and only accessible by me, maintained with care. I regularly review and comply with the latest data protection regulations to safeguard your personal information, ensuring that trust in our therapeutic relationship is protected.

2

Supervision & CPD

I regularly engage in supervision with a qualified supervisor to review my practice, reflect on my work, and gain insights that enhance my therapeutic skills. This process ensures that I am working effectively and ethically, in a supportive environment that maintains your confidentiality.

The world is always changing and every client is unique.

I am committed to ongoing professional development through workshops, seminars, and training courses to keep my practice relevant and accurate. This continual learning allows me to stay updated with the latest research and methodologies in the field of counselling.

3

Safeguarding

I safeguard my clients by keeping to strict confidentiality protocols, maintaining professional boundaries, and adhering to ethical guidelines to create a secure and supportive environment that prioritises your well-being.

However, it's important to know that where there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or others, or in cases involving the disclosure of terrorism, drug trafficking, or child abuse, confidentiality may be breached, as required by law.

Care will be taken that the minimum necessary information will be disclosed, and I will always strive to discuss this process with you beforehand. This helps me ensure your safety and the safety of others.

Who is counselling for?

You may be seeking counselling during times of crisis, like after the loss of a loved one, during a relationship breakdown, or following a significant life change such as moving or starting a new job. These events can stir up strong emotions and counselling provides a supportive environment to process these feelings.

You might come to counselling motivated by a desire for personal growth and better self-understanding. Perhaps you are looking to improve your relationships, increase your self-esteem, or simply have a better handle on your emotions.

Counselling can be a sanctuary if you are dealing with long-term mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, or chronic stress, offering strategies to manage symptoms and improve quality of life.
